Jahn has a Local School Council (LSC) to help with the operations of the school. The primary responsibilities of the LSC are approving how funds and resources are allocated, developing and monitoring the annual school improvement plan, and evaluating and monitoring the school’s principal.
All parents and community members who want to strengthen their local school and have a positive impact on the student achievement are encouraged to run for their Local School Council (LSC). No experience or formal education is required.
The school principal is automatically a member of the LSC. Two (2) teacher representatives are appointed by the board, following a preference poll of all full-time staff. Six (6) parents and two (2) community residents are to be elected to an LSC. There are a total of 11 LSC members.
Parent, community, and teacher representatives serve a two-year term beginning July 1st after each election and ending June 30th, two years later.
The Jahn LSC meets on the first Friday of every month at 8:00am.

It has been a great privilege working at Jahn World Language School this year. It has been a pleasure working with our talented and motivated students, as well as our excellent, creative, and supportive staff and administration. While our music program is still developing, I am very proud of what our students have achieved so far. With the help of their teachers, they put on a fantastic Holiday Season Assembly and a terrific Black History assembly. I am amazed at the great progress that our band and choir students have made singing, and learning guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums.

Every month teachers select a student who has exhibited good behavior, good work habits, and good citizenship to be the positive action students of the month. We celebrate with an ice cream party and students’ pictures are placed on our positive action bulletin board for all to see.
