Every since Dr. Coleman was a little girl she has always believed that learning is key that can open doors to worlds that she never dreamed existed. The keys of learning have opened many doors for Dr. Coleman. The learning key has opened the doors to: Northwestern University where she received a B.S. in Radio, TV, and Film, Southern Illinois University where she received a M.F.A in film production and Theory, University of Illinois where received a M.Ed in early childhood education., and Loyola University where she received a doctorate in curriculum and instruction.
Learning and has always been important to Dr. Coleman and as teacher empowering her students to love learning is essential cornerstone in her educational philosophy. Dr. Coleman believes a good education can transport a child beyond the boundaries of his/her home, block, and neighborhood. She wants all students to be card carrying members of the culture of empowerment.
Dr. Coleman has been with CPS for fourteen years and has taught preschool-3rd. In addition she taught film production and theory courses at the college level. In her fleeting moments of free time Dr. Coleman loves to go to the movies, read a good book, and dine out with family and friends.

It has been a great privilege working at Jahn World Language School this year. It has been a pleasure working with our talented and motivated students, as well as our excellent, creative, and supportive staff and administration. While our music program is still developing, I am very proud of what our students have achieved so far. With the help of their teachers, they put on a fantastic Holiday Season Assembly and a terrific Black History assembly. I am amazed at the great progress that our band and choir students have made singing, and learning guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums.

Every month teachers select a student who has exhibited good behavior, good work habits, and good citizenship to be the positive action students of the month. We celebrate with an ice cream party and students’ pictures are placed on our positive action bulletin board for all to see.
